WHAT IS THE J4J CAMPAIGN?
The purpose of this campaign is to publicize the injustice suffered by Jaweed Al- Ghussein. Several years after Al -Ghussein was abducted twice by the Palestinian Authority with the co-operation and facilitation of the Abu Dhabi authorities, he has yet to receive a public apology, restitution of his business in Abu-Dhabi and compensation for damage to his reputation, false arrest and wrongful incarceration.
WHY NOW?This campaign was kick-started in February 2008 following the final failure of the authorities in Abu Dhabi to respond to calls by the Al -Ghussein family that Abu Dhabi and the Palestinian Authority issue a public apology. Since Al- Ghussein’s safe return to the UK both the Abu Dhabi Authorities and the PA have continually assured Al- Ghussein and his family that the matter should be resolved amicably without recourse to a legal action, i.e. that Al -Ghussein would receive a public apology. In February 2008 the family finally conceded that no restitution would be forthcoming from Abu Dhabi and the PA without a massive public human rights campaign, and full legal action.
THE AIM
The Aim of the campaign is to ensure that no one, whoever they are, is subjected to human rights abuses by Abu Dhabi or the PA. This campaign serves to highlight the state terrorism and human rights abuse conducted in the United Arab Emirates and Abu Dhabi. This campaign strives to achieve public acknowledgment of the abductions, restitution and compensation for loss of reputation, loss of time, denial of due process. Abu Dhabi has persistently lied and lied in the hope that this matter would go away and that the matter would just disappear either through Jaweed’s death or financial ruin. Abu Dhabi has failed to grasp that even with all its financial might and power the Al -Ghussein family’s determination to see Jaweed fully vindicated has not lessened over time.
